For the last month or so I've had to run this .exe instead of the normal one, I have to find the ffxiv.exe for it when there's an update (like yesterday). Is this okay? is there something I need to do to 'clean' it up? When I do launch the regular one it launches ffxiv and after the splash Final Fantasy XIV screen it closes. I don't mind running the old one as it works fine, just wanted to know if it'll cause problems.

You should read the trouble shooting thread PSA that i put at the top. And make sure you are not running any of the programs listed. Gui_launcher should be working fine.
