Long time Minion customer here - I know it's a longshot, but if Linux support could be an option in the future, that'd be wonderful. I currently use XIVLauncher on Arch (which includes Dalamud, a series of plugins/addons).
I stopped using Windows a couple years ago but found Minion incredibly helpful for gathering.
Again, just a "feature" request, but I hope the devs will consider it. I may use a crappy Windows laptop for gathering in the meantime.. if I have to.
If Linux support would be helpful, perhaps adding a +1 as a reply could show how much demand there is?
Thanks again for the great product!
I too would love to see this.
<p>Linux support would be awesome.</p><p>its the ff14 without reborn or mmominion is main reason for stopping me for switching to Linux</p><p><br></p><p>I have thought of a VM but not wanting to take the performance hit.<br></p>
+1 this, and anyone get this to work in a VM? With newer computers would there be a huge performance hit. I am super over windows, and do not plan to keep it beyond Win10 support date.
Bump
Would love to see some linux support. Not moving from 10 to 11.
I'd just like to say that it is indeed very possible to run Minion under linux. In fact, it is downright trivial (provided you have the source code). I have manged to get it to run quite easily in Fedora Linux, although I had to write my own injection code.
I had to reverse the bot quite heavily to get to this point; but basically the problem why it does not inject is because of the specific injection library you guys are using. (I am not going to say more, but the minion team knows what I'm talking about). If you do not use this library and instead opt for a traditional injection approach without manual mapping, then the injection works every time under wine and the game and bot will run flawlessly in linux.
I appreciate perhaps the concern of being found by anti-cheat software, and I'm guessing that is why you opted for this approach - but perhaps you can provide an alternative injection for linux users with an 'as-is' policy with the understanding that this approach is not as stealthy as the windows equivalent. At the very least, it will allow the bot to work under linux and wine.
