My experience on several servers is that the next person will usually undercut you by 20% until the price drops from 100gil to 9gil within 3 days.
You sell gil directly to private clients/customers right because I don't think any of the high demand servers are having their shards/crystal prices at 100 gil?

i sell on the marketboard.. right now anywhere from 80gil to 100 gil for like stacks of 100. I normaly undercut those but sell in bulk on the vendor and sell the cyrstals in about 10min after posting. And i never said shards. Shards dont sell they are like 5gil each on my server. I just use the shards to craft raw mats in to HQ mats then sell the HQ mats for a profit on the marketboard.

Crystals (not shards) are already selling at 5 to 19 gil on several servers.

LOL sucks for those servers!
It's called the law of supply and demand. You flood the market with product and the market price goes down. It is inevitable.

To add on to your point, demand in FFXIV is either inelastic, or near inelastic. There will be the same group of people buying the same quantity regardless whether the price is high or low. So undercutting is actually not a wise move, unless you are desperate or trying to induce a price crash to kill off the competition.
