So just so I have this right its probably best to use this as a dps class? Obviously not a tank, but what about healer? Secondly does everyone use Assist with this? So in theory if I use assist, and target "tank assist", and there is no issues it will do the whole duty for me?

I usually use this to run a full group though. I use tank assist most the time, as long as the person you're following or at least someone if playing normally the rest will follow and long at selected.

Trying to use this but the follower character isn't mounting when the leader does. Taking a look at the code it seems like it's supposed to. Is anyone else having this problem?

Double check that potd mode isn't enabled. If I remember correctly, it won't mount when this is turned on. I could be wrong though it's been some time since I've used it. Lastly ensure that within your advanced settings it has a mount selected in the dropdown list. Sometimes it's reset depending on an update, crashed and settings didn't save etc.

So I'm still using this for PotD, I regularly run 100+ with it using multiple minion accounts and it's still the best follow option bar none. The largest barrier I'm still encountering is boss AoE patterns that it will not effectively dodge (if it all). Unfortunately, in the boss fights this usually can spell disaster quite quickly. Is there a reason why it won't detect AoE on the boss floors, or can it be programmed in? I wouldn't mind collecting the names of the attacks if that would help. Thanks!

thats a minion thing. every ability ID would have to be programmed into the bot as mechanics. as it stand atm... only "mechanics" minion understands is red circles

Ah, I see that's a shame, hopefully they'll address it later if the PotD mode gets expanded.
