Main thing is finding areas people are actually at, it might be slower but you wont die, try camp bronze lake from 35-40 then Camp overlook in outer from 40-50 some fates will kill you based on aoe fights just black list those few

dont turn on rest in fates... you will stand there like a nub and get killed resting..... dieing in fates is just part of it. unless you are in a fate group.

is there a way to set it to tp back to the zone you're in when you die?
Set your home point at your zone and you will be fine
