I've totally uninstalled Avast, restarted multiple times, installed MSE (which disables Windows Defender,) and I've even updated Windows (175 updates later...)
Still crashes. Doesn't crash on my laptop, but unfortunately my laptop doesn't really play FFXIV well.
I teamviewered with fxfire and we couldn't solve the issue. We used hookshark, and couldn't see anything interfering. :/

(Re)install drivers for your sound card. I bet it's Realtek HD Audio one.
If that not help, change your resolution to the one that game can run. Sometimes this error occur when you are trying to run it with non supported resolution.

The game has never crashed on me before due to the drivers.. In fact, no game has crashed on me because of sound driver issues.
And my resolution is the typical 1920x1080.. It's supported. I tried turning down the resolution, also. I also tried full screen/borderless/windowed modes. Nothing changed.

A google search has returned tons of games crashing because of the same error line, including:
Battlefield 3 stating it's a GPU and RAM crash.
Windows techs stating it's a sound driver or CPU incompatibility with the software you're running.
Hitman Absolution stating it's windows server issue.
I really don't think it's any of that, tbh. I'll try totally disabling my sound driver later.
Main DEVs, do you guys have 32b O/S or DEP disabled (NX bit)?
re-installed all my drivers, no change. short of a full pc reformat im outa ideas on what else ta try =/

Guys, if you are getting crashes (as I was originally) try resetting ALL your settings to default within the game client. I had some customization there where I had switched to gamepad to hide the pet bar and some other stuff. Last night I went through EVERY menu and reset EVERYTHING TO DEFAULT!! Bot worked for over half an hour without a crash :)
