are we talking about in assist mode? in assist mode the bot does not auto face because it makes it impossible to run away if you need to. so in assist mode you have to control the movment of the bot this includes facing. now in any other mode yes the bot auto faces.

It's not hard to offer auto face as an option, but what's your use case? Kiting targets while using legacy mode?

There is a particular need to have auto face when playing dungeons and assist mode with a tank (Paladin in my case) . When you have multiple mobs in 360 degree, even on the sides and behind, it simply cannot assist if you do not position the mobs completely from the front.

yea but with autoface on it would make it impossible for you to move out of red aoe. if you go to move the bot will still contirnue to face your target forcing you to always run to your target.

When you describe the scenario in that way it will become bad.

But if we think a little bit as a developer, how do you get around that problem?

One suggestion is that when you change the target, it turns (auto face) there once. If you need to move from an aoe you can do it without any problems.

If you change the target often as a tank does, the bot will turn where it has to turn, at every opportunity.

There are certainly more ways to do it, but this one is probably a good idea.

The real trouble with this has to do with the way we (and everybody else) safety-checks the action calls.

1) Attack skills fail the game's own CanCast() check while not currently facing the target, meaning, if you want to allow for auto-facing, you're losing a pretty valuable all-around safety check, which WILL cause some error text spam, and anybody using this feature, has to be prepared to accept that as a inevitability, unless we can discover some API piece that will give us all the safety checks of CanCast() minus the "facing" component.

2) The game behavior changes somewhat if you have the option turned on to auto-face the target when using actions. This may not be an issue, but it's something to consider.

please add an option, getting tired to replace task_assist with a auto face one.
