Okay so if I manually click synthesize, it works? But it's not doing it on it's own. EDIT: This mysteriously started working without me needing to manually click synthesize.

It's also failing 100% of my synths. It seems to think that using one progress skill is enough to synth when it needs two. I'm sure I can fix this in skillmanager but don't know how? EDIT: Fixed this by having a careful synth be the very first thing and ONLY do it on step 1. So there's my second progress skill.

That's pretty strange. You probably turned on skill manager.
It doesn't know how many synths you need, you need to specify you need two.
